UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) added 2.75% or 12.09 points to end at 452.00 and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) was up 2.50% or 1.22 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:), which lost 5.39% or 4.27 points to trade at 74.89 in late trade. Walmart Inc (NYSE:) declined 1.57% or 2.27 points to end at 142.63 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:) shed 1.41% or 2.81 points to 195.92.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Lam Research Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 6.01% to 680.54, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.95% to settle at 333.76 and Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 5.53% to close at 151.22.
The worst performers were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) which was down 5.39% to 74.89 in late trade, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:) which lost 3.34% to settle at 54.64 and Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:) which was down 3.33% to 110.95 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Krystal Biotech Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 121.65% to 88.24, Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 91.39% to settle at 4.000 and Adagio Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 86.43% to close at 46.83.
The worst performers were Fennec Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 50.41% to 4.780 in late trade, Mink Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 33.63% to settle at 13.28 and Vaxxinity Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 25.79% to 13.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1741 to 1519 and 120 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2288 fell and 1473 advanced, while 164 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1291, while USD/JPY rose 0.04% to 113.57.
