International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on Friday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged down 1.7% to 155.80. The European index ticked down 1.4% to 143.55. The Asian index lost 2.5% to 189.78. The Latin American index climbed up 0.4% to 227.48, while the emerging-markets index declined 2.4% to 324.40.
Aegon N.V. was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The international financial services company rose 3.8% after it announced the final results of tender offers for six series of subordinated notes.
Biopharmaceutical company Amarin Corp. rose 7.3% after it said in vitro research results suggested that eicosapentaenoic acid, in combination with widely prescribed statins, contributed to a reduction in lipid oxidation in membranes in a manner that may be enhanced with the use of these statins.
