International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Tuesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts ticked up 1.2% to 159.69. The European index edged up 0.3% to 145.75. The Asian index gained 2.8% to 197.15. The Latin American index moved up 0.5% to 234.48, while the emerging-markets index climbed 3% to 339.03.
Carnival PLC was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The global cruise and vacation company rose 2.7% after Carnival Cruise Line said it had its highest-ever booking week.
Vale SA fell 4.2% despite Deutsche Bank raising its price target to $22 a share from $20.
