International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Wednesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.1% to 124.94. The European index increased 0.8% to 122.36, the Asian index increased 1.9% to 138.22, the Latin American index dropped 1.1% to 184.19 and the emerging markets index increased 1.7% to 237.09.
Iberdrola SA and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.
ADRs of Iberdrola increased 4.1% after the Spanish energy company said earnings for the first nine months of the year increased 29% to 3.10 billion euros ($3.12 billion). The company said the results were driven by a strong performance in the U.S. and Brazil as well as a 14% increase in investments.
ADRs of Reckitt Benckiser Group fell 2.8% after the consumer-goods company said it expects inflation on its cost of goods sold to remain in the high teens for the year. The company also reported that its third-quarter revenue increased 14% as it benefited from foreign-exchange tailwinds.
ADRs of Carrefour SA rose 2% after the French grocer raised its cash generation target for the year following higher third-quarter sales as the group continued to gain market share in France, Spain and Brazil.
