Bharti Airtel Ltd. said Monday that its second-quarter net profit rose 89% from a year earlier thanks to stronger earnings from its mobile services in India and Africa.
The Indian telecom company said net profit for the quarter ended Sept. 30 rose to 21.45 billion rupees ($260.7 million) from INR11.34 billion a year earlier. That missed the estimate of INR27.96 billion from a poll of analysts by FactSet.
Second-quarter revenue increased 22% to INR345.27 billion.
Profit from Bharti Airtel’s mobile services in India more than doubled to INR36.69 billion from INR16.125 billion a year earlier, while that of its mobile services in Africa rose to INR35.695 billion from INR28.09 billion.
