International stocks trading in New York closed higher Wednesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.9% to 140.34. The European index gained 1.9% to 130.34. The Asian index advanced 1.8% to 171.74. The Latin American index moved up 1.9% to 190.79, while the emerging-markets index was 1.8% higher at 293.13.
Canon was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The digital imaging company rose 1.9% after it said members of its Canon Legends program have partnered with Immutable Image to create non-fungible tokens from a limited collection of their photographs and publish them as a collective.
Spanish bank Banco Santander SA rose 4.1% on the back of an ad-hoc European Central Bank meeting to discuss recent market turmoil, which broadly lifted bank stocks in Europe.
