International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower Friday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts was flat at 137.89. The European index increased 0.4% to 133.24, the Asian index fell 0.6% to 159.16, the Latin American index edged 0.2% lower to 182.49 and the emerging markets index decreased 0.8% to 270.63.
Legal & General Group PLC and Petroleo Brasileiro SA were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.
ADRs of Legal & General Group rose 2.5% after the insurer said its global pension risk transfer business has continued to do well, recently securing new business wins in the U.K., U.S. and Canada. The firm also backed its full-year views and said it sees the solvency II reform package, laid out by U.K. Treasury chief Jeremy Hunt in the Autumn Statement, as positive.
ADRs of Brazilian oil company Petroleo Brasileiro, or Petrobras, fell 1% after the company said it has canceled the sale process for a refinery located in the state of Minas Gerais due to an inadequate offer. The company said it will wait to resume the sale process.
